My Bio
As an artist, wildlife and human characters are my focal points. I am drawn to them by their expression and personality. I try to connect with a subject through their eyes, because I believe the eyes are the window to the soul and it is my desire to reflect the soul in my artwork. I am very attentive to detail, wanting to capture the deep, unchanging features of a character. The world is so full of diverse characters in different walks of life, and I long to capture them all on paper. I have a tendency to become absorbed in my work, pouring myself into each piece. It is my desire to create bold and expressive pieces that demand a viewer's attention.
I am a member of The Southern Arts Society North Carolina. I have exhibited work in Seattle and NYC.

Here she is! The second Fairy in my Fairy challenge project. I had so many ideas running through my mind it was hard to decide which one to go with. I decided on this one because I am a big daisy fan. I find the Daisy to be a cheerful flower. In this picture my fairy is a little sad because her daisy is wilting. Her season is ending and cooler weather is approaching. It is time for the flowers to go to sleep and make room for winter snows. I had a lot of fun doing this one. This project went well for me. It flowed onto the paper. I love it when things come together so well!  The third Fairy in the series is already making herself known to me.

Autumn Fairy

0 min read
My newest piece is Autumn  Fairy. It is the the first piece in my fairy project. My grand daughter had the perfect little fairy face for this one. I had fun with this one, but at the same time, I was stretched. The picture is only an 11x14 so there was a lot of very small detail to put in. That's why I opted for a mixed media of pencil and pastel. This gave me a little more control on those tiny little spaces. Maybe it's because fall is here, but she just had to be done as an Autumn Fairy. That's how I kept visualizing her. So, here she is..... decked out in those warm fall colors. I gave her a little wand to bring the fall winds an
